Le Faubourg, the factory turned neighbourhood
General Motors opened its plant here on October 12, 1965. It was the only auto assembly plant in Quebec, and it closed on August 29, 2002. Instead of leaving the land empty, the city turned it into Faubourg Boisbriand, whose first stores opened in 2007. Today you'll find big box stores like Costco, restaurants, an industrial sector, and more than a thousand housing units. The residential plan even earned a LEED-ND Gold certification.
